It’s been an eventful week to say the least… we’ve seen England through to the quarter-finals, watched the Love Island producers break hearts and of course, completed our fourth Manchester 3000.
Manchester 3000 is a crazy endurance event that we host every summer, to raise money for Big Change Manchester. This year we had over 70 participants from businesses across the North, all with one common goal; to help our homeless community.
We were joined by finance gurus including Summit Accountants, Parasol and Paystream, and a whole host of tech experts such as SysGroup and OneFile. Each played a vital role during the run and also in the fundraising efforts beforehand.
Manchester 3000 is always an extremely fun day for everyone involved, but we knew it was important to remember the real cause behind it. Mooch, an ex-homeless person who is involved in many of the projects in Manchester, joined us at the starting point to thank everyone involved and give us the much needed encouragement to push through the challenge.
Mooch also took part in the Manchester Street Poem campaign to raise awareness about the best ways to help rough sleepers.
We started the climb at CIS Tower with a very public group warm-up led by our amazing sponsors, The Gym Group. This year’s building route included:
To ensure we didn’t get an easy ride, the sun came out in full force with temperatures of 28 degrees throughout the day – and we’re pretty certain it was even hotter inside some of those stairwells!
Luckily we had incredible support from Mark Andrews Developments, who kindly allowed us to use one of their venues, Walrus to wind down and celebrate with the team. Cold beers have never been better received!
So what about the fundraising you say?
All our teams contributed massively to our overall total of £3,035 which goes directly to Big Change Manchester, a cause which we’re extremely passionate about.
To help boost that number we coordinated a Manchester 3000 raffle which included some pretty cool prizes from local businesses.
