Accepting a counter-offer from your current employer can be like giving your ex just one last chance; running the risk of a total waste of your time and talents.
It’s a great analogy to make as the decision to change jobs can be fraught with the same stress and indecision as leaving a long-term relationship. You’re taking the slightly scary path of leaving your comfort zone for a new, exciting opportunity and, statistics show, it’s probably due to poor communication, boredom and feeling undervalued.
